discharge surface water into or within the Lower Severn Internal Drainage District or to obstruct or alter the flow of or erect place or construct any structure or service in over under or within 8 metres of a watercourse.

Note: This application form is not applicable for consent to works on Main Rivers maintained by the Environment Agency to whom an application should be made at the appropriate area office.

The Land Drainage Act 1991 (Section 72) defines a watercourse as "all rivers and streams and all ditches, drains, cuts, culverts, dikes, sluices, sewers (other than public sewers within the meaning of the Water Industry Act 1991) and passages, through which water flows."
